Gestational surrogacy is a relatively new form of reproduction available to men, women, and couples who cannot have children traditionally. The growing availability of surrogacy resources is a major advancement, but gay male couples still need extra support to navigate the complex and often challenging surrogacy system. This is exactly why Men Having Babies, Inc. was created as a nonprofit organization in July 2012.

The Vision of Men Having Babies

Men Having Babies began as a peer support network for biological gay fathers and fathers-to-be by offering monthly workshops and annual seminars. Over the past six years, Men Having Babies has expanded significantly and partnered with leading LGBT family associations around the world. Now this international non-profit organization seeks to provide educational and practical information to assist gay prospective parents in achieving biological parenting. Men Having Babies also uses it resources to connect gay men with financial assistance that can enable them to pursue surrogacy.

Supporting Gay Couple in Florida

In an effort to continue helping gay men around the world become biological parents, Men Having Babies is hosting its first Florida conference on June 9-10, 2018 in Fort Lauderdale. This conference aims to support prospective gay parents from both the USA and Latin America. It will feature practical and personal peer advice, as well as opportunities to meet a wide range of important leaders in the realm of surrogacy and egg donation.

Gay men who are exploring the possibility of surrogacy can benefit from the insights offered at this Men Having Babies conference. A few of the topics that will be covered about contemporary gestational surrogacy include:

  • Insurance
  • Budgeting
  • Legal factors
  • Medical aspects
  • Psychological considerations
  • Stories from children of gay fathers

The Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP)

Since all proceeds from sponsorships and exhibiting fees benefit the Gay Parenting Assistance Program, supporting this conference also makes it possible for Men Having Babies to provide gay prospective parents with discounted and free surrogacy services. In fact, the GPAP annually facilitates over a million dollars worth of financial support for gay prospective parents!

Financial resources are always an important factor in surrogacy, but gay men face significant financial challenges in their quest for parenting due to their need for an egg donor and a surrogate mother. GPAP seeks to provide assistance when needed through discounted services and grants. The Men Having Babies Surrogacy Conference & Expo in Fort Lauderdale this June will enable GPAP to continue this meaningful support process.
