Stress is something a lot of pregnant women have to deal with in their 9 months of carrying a child. You are doing everything you can to make sure that the baby is happy and healthy, but that often leads to stress and discomfort for yourself. However, you can set up a balance by picking up a hobby that is good for you, and good for the baby that you are carrying.

First on our list: Reading.

Reading while pregnant is not only good and relaxing for you, but it is helping the baby’s development. You can pick up children’s books from the library and read them to the baby, or you can pick a book that would interest you and you can read that. This will sooth the baby, and it will help you unwind from a long and stressful day. Open Arms surrogacy agency has vast resources for great literature recommendations.

Meditation.

Meditation is also good for pregnant women who are dealing with a large amount of stress. You can take some time out of your day, sit in silence, and just breathe. Just taking an hour out of your day to breathe and relax can help keep you calm for the rest of the day. This will not only help you, but it will help the baby. You will both be calm and ready to attack whatever the day throws at you. Having a great surrogacy agency behind you will be helpful in your relaxation techniques.

Listen to music.

Music is in our everyday lives, even if we aren’t aware of it. You can help keep the stress down, and you can help the baby’s development by listening to music. Music is something a lot of pregnant women turn to. It has been proven that babies who listen to music in the womb come out a lot healthier, and pregnant women deal with less stress. So, if you are out of ideas, music is always something you can turn to.

Going for walks, doing simple and easy workouts, or yoga.

This is to keep you active, and to keep the baby from kicking you all day and night. By moving around and exercising, you can keep yourself healthy and relaxed, and you can keep the baby relaxed. Whatever you put your body through during pregnancy, the baby is also feeling. So, working out all day leads to a calm body and a calm baby at the end of the day. As a surrogacy agency we offer many great and safe workout recommendations for our surrogates.

Try cooking a new recipe and make something healthy and delicious.

As I mentioned above, whatever you put yourself through while carrying a child, the baby will also feel. This means exercising, listening to music, reading books, and especially the things that you eat. Whether you are always a master in the kitchen, or maybe you’ve just always wanted to try making a fancy meal from scratch, you can do this now while pregnant. Look up a few recipes that are good for babies and have at it. If you aren’t sure where to start, then look at some super foods and find recipes that include those ingredients.

Learn a new language.

The baby will always be listening, so not only is this a fun hobby for you to learn, but it will also help the baby in the future. This is a beneficial hobby for both of you. You can listen to french CDs and movies to learn, or you can try reading french. As long as it is something that the baby can hear, you will both benefit from the hobby.

Take a self care day and go to the spa.

If relying on yourself to get some relaxation has proven to be difficult, you can always go to the spa and you will be easily relaxed. You can get a massage, a facial, or even just relax in a mud bath for an hour or so. You will come out of it completely relaxed. Our surrogacy agency is a huge advocate of self care.

Prepare for the baby’s birth and take a birthing class.

This might not be a great hobby for someone who has carried a baby before, but for someone who is new to being pregnant, this is a great way to pass time and reduce stress. The more prepared you are, the less you have to worry about. Being surrounded by other pregnant women who can teach you the best ways to exercise while pregnant, and how to prepare for the birth, will definitely help you relax more later when the time comes.

Start a blog.

You might have a lot of thoughts running around your head at this time, being pregnant does this to people. You can start a blog and document all of the craziest ideas that you have while pregnant, and what you are currently feeling. This will get all of that weight off of your shoulders and you will feel much better. It does not have to be a public blog, you can keep it private so no one ever reads it. But writing out your feelings and ideas will clear your mind so you can focus on being healthy and positive.

Try singing a song.

Singing is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, and it falls under the music category. The baby will hear a lovely tune that it can listen to, and you will be able to sing your heart out as much as you want. Singing helps reduce anxiety because it focuses your mind on what is currently happening, and it reduces stress because it allows you to sing out all of your emotions rather than holding them closely inside.

There are so many things that pregnant women can do when they want to relax and still be entertained, these are the most useful activities available. Pregnant women have a lot of stress to deal with, and often times they don’t know how to deal with it and how to distract themselves with fun things. I hope that this list will help keep you calm and entertained throughout the 9 months that you are carrying a child. Having Open Arms as your surrogacy agency ensures you will be supported every step of the way.
