Common qualification questions.

Can I become a surrogate if I have had a C-section?
Possibly. Prior C-sections are reviewed individually, and the fertility clinic considers your complete obstetric history before making a medical eligibility decision.
Can I become a surrogate if I had gestational diabetes or another pregnancy complication?
It depends on the complication, its severity, how it resolved, and the fertility clinic’s criteria. Share your complete pregnancy history so it can be reviewed accurately.
Can I become a surrogate if my tubes are tied?
Yes. A tubal ligation does not prevent gestational surrogacy, because the pregnancy is created through IVF and embryo transfer. Final eligibility still depends on medical screening and clinic approval.
Why do surrogates need to have had a prior pregnancy?
A previous pregnancy gives the medical team important information about how your body has responded to pregnancy and delivery. Clinics also use that history as part of their safety and eligibility review.
Who makes the final medical decision?
The fertility clinic overseeing the cycle makes the final medical eligibility decision after reviewing your records and screening results.

Not sure? Ask us!

A prior pregnancy complication, C-section, medication, or other medical history does not always determine eligibility on its own. The fertility clinic makes the final medical decision after reviewing your complete history. If you are unsure whether you qualify, our team can complete an initial review and explain the next steps without asking you to make a commitment.
